Music

In Montessori, music is woven into daily life. Children develop skills through songs, movement, instruments, and group activities, engaging mind, body, and spirit in a joyful, multi-sensory way.

Kids doing Orff Shulwerk

Using scarves, puppets, and simple percussion instruments—like shakers, tambourines, and drums—children discover that music is something they can feel, move with, and create.

As they progress, students refine their musical skills through the Orff Schulwerk approach, which integrates singing, movement, and instrumental play.

Playing on xylophones, metallophones, and percussion nurtures musicality, creativity, confidence, and collaboration.

Across all levels, the Montessori music experience nurtures both skill and self-expression. Children develop rhythm, pitch recognition, and ensemble awareness while also discovering the joy of performing and creating with others. They learn to echo sounds, keep a steady beat, and recognize musical contrasts such as high and low, fast and slow, and loud and soft.

By the time children complete Montessori elementary, they carry with them more than musical knowledge—they possess a deep appreciation for the art of music, an awareness of its universal language, and the confidence to express themselves creatively throughout life.
