Transition
(5 – 7 years)
The Transition Program at Peninsula Montessori School bridges the Pre-Primary and Elementary years, guiding children from hands-on, concrete exploration into more abstract reasoning and academic independence.
At this stage, students are eager for greater challenges and responsibilities, and our carefully prepared environment gives them the tools and guidance to meet those challenges with confidence.
This program honors each child’s readiness to grow beyond early childhood learning while still offering the support, structure, and nurturing community that define Montessori education.
Children begin to take on more responsibility for their work, learn to manage their time, and deepen their ability to collaborate with peers—all while strengthening the academic foundations built in the earlier years.

Bridging Toward Elementary Success
The Transition Program is a vital bridge in the Montessori journey—where children move gracefully from the early childhood classroom into the elementary years. Here, they not only strengthen their academic foundations but also gain the independence, responsibility, and self-confidence needed to thrive in the next stage.
With curiosity as their guide and community as their support, students leave the Transition Program eager and well-prepared for the challenges of Lower Elementary and beyond.
